Well, if you only stay in HK for one or two days, it's not necessary for you to buy the Travel Pass or Ordinary Octopus Card. You can just buy the metro tickets when you arriving at the subway station.
If you stay at around 3 to 4 days, you are suggested to buy Airport Express Travel Pass, which contains one or two Airport Express single journey(s) plus 3 consecutive days of unlimited travel on MTR. Then you can enjoy some discounts when you taking the public transportation.

The fare is HKD220 for one single airport express journey and HKD300 for two rides.

Except the East Rail Line First Class, and Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau stations, you can use it at any MTR station.
