Hi would like to know is there a need to buy the shanghai to tangkou bus tickets in advance & if so how long in advance?Thanks

Yes, I suggest you book the ticket in advance, for there are only a few direct buses available from South Bus Station to the scenic area. You can make a booking through your hotel, and you can reserve the ticket about 17 days at most in advance.
