Wifi available on some trains

I rode the D type between Yantai and Weihai a few months ago and there didn't offer wifi onboard. Also, I rode the G type between Beijing and Haerbin and they also didn't offer wifi then.

Does the internet availability depend on the route? Or literally just on the particular ride?
