Daniele, as long as your layover is not longer than 24 hours, there won't be problems. If the layover is longer than that, you need to go to the local exit and entry adminsitration to apply for a G type or L type entry permit with 0 entry on it.

The stop is 1h30m in Whuan+1h50m flight from Whuan to Canton+1h40m in Canton so the sum of these is much less than 24 hours (3 hours more for the return flight, same itinerary).I have been answered by the office of China Sothern in china that, even if the schedule indicates that I stay in China for a period shorter than 24 hours, I may have a problem if 1) I miss the connection in Whuan or Canton that obliges me to stay in China for more than 24 hours, or 2) if the plane from Rome is delayed and they know that I will miss the connection and I have to stay overnight in China I will not be allowed to board. thanks. daniele.
