Carrying anti cancer medicine to China fro a friend

A friend of mine has requested me to carry 16 bottles of Geftinat (cancer medicine) for his father to China. Do I need to declare the same at customs?

According to the related rule, foreigners can take things worth no more than CNY 2000 if they plan to leave them in mainland. I think 16 bottles are worth more than CNY2000, right? In this regard, I am afraid that you can take so many bottles of cancer medicine. If you really want to take medicine, you should get the prescription from your doctor and tell the customs officer that they are for personal use.

Thanks for the reply Lisa. Its 4 of us friends going there. I think if we carry 4 bottles each then it would not exceed the limit. Also have asked my friend in China to mail me the prescription from the local doctor with the name of the pateint. Would that help ?

S, if each of you just take 4 bottles, then I don't think you have any problem at the customs. The prescription isn't required, I think. But you should put them separately in your own luggage.

By the way, the prescription from local doctor doesn't work. Here I meant you need to carry your doctor's prescription if you plan to take a lot of medicine.
