hire a taxi for one day in datong

We plan to stay 2 nights in DT, but we would like to do the tour for Hangging Pagoda , Wood temple and Yungang Caves in one day. Is it possible to see all in one day ?If not, on the arrival day, let say about 2 pm, do we have enough time to the caves on our own by bus from DT ? How much time we should spend at the caves before they close.Thank you.

No, it is impossible. All they three are far from each other, and one day is not enough to cover the spots. You need two days.No, your time is enough, the cave will be closed at 17:00 or 17:20. Well, the sightseeing in the cave may takes about half a day, and the bus duration to the cave is about 1 hour.
