Hire a taxi for one day in Datong

We plan to stay 2 nights in DT, but we would like to do the tour for Hangging Pagoda , Wood temple and Yungang Caves in one day. Is it possible to see all in one day ?

If not, on the arrival day, let say about 2 pm, do we have enough time to the caves on our own by bus from DT ? How much time we should spend at the caves before they close.
