am planning to travel with my family to suzhou after they arrive in shanghai...... can you advice me best places to visit within 2 days time and recommend any hotels nearby cheap and comfortable. Thank you

The hotel is only 2-2.5km from Shantang Street and the daily cost per room is actually almost CNY300. Is it good enough for you? If it is still a little bit far, I would recommend the GreenTree Inn (Jingde Road branch) to you. It costs around CNY200 per night and only around 1.2km from Shantang Street. By the way, its location is no. 460, Jingde Road, Pingjiang District.
