Should i buy duty free alcohol in brisbane en route thru hongkong to shanghai or buy it in hongkong

Jan, I do not suggest you buy it in Brisbane. HK has strict rules against alcohol and cigarettes. You can take only 1 L liquor if its alcohol concentration is more than 30 percent. What's more, you can take only 19 cigarettes, 1 cigar or 25 grams tobacco.

However, after you arrive, you can buy 1.5 L liquor and take them into Shanghai without paying tax.
