About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do i need a transit visa? I am from Great Britian...but have 2 tickets

I have 1 ticket from Seim Reap, Cambodia to GUANGZHOU, and then a seperate ticket from GUANGZHOU to LAX, but my transit in GUANGZHOU is only 11 hours 45 min. I am confused. Can I still get an entry permit upon arrival in GUANGZHOU even though I have 2 tickets? Please let me know what documents I need.
