About:Hong Kong MTR Tickets & Fares

Will the 3-day Octopus MRT pass cover all we want to do in the time we are there? See details...

We arrive in HK late the day of October 18. We leave very early on the 21st. That leaves us 2 full days to see the sights. We are staying at the Ovolo Aberdeen Harbor Hotel. We will need the airport express both to and from our hotel.

The sights we want to see are: The tram, the budda, Victoria Peak, Stanley Market, Ladies Market, Night Market, and a city tour. Will the 3-day Octopus MRT pass cover all we want to do and will we be able to use the return trip to the airport since it will be on the 4th day?

Also, if we buy on line, what kind of ticket do we get, a computer generated one with some kind of bar code or what.

Also, do you think it is possible to do everything I mentioned in two full days?

Many thanks,

Well, considering your situation, I suggest you buy the airport express travel pass at HKD300, which includes two Airport Express single journeys plus 3 consecutive days of unlimited travel on MTR. If you want to use it to take the tram or ferry, you can just top up the card, and then it will function like a normal octopus card, but your three day unlimited MTR Rides and returning airport express journey are still valid.
If you fail to buy the tickets online, you can buy it upon arrival. In the arrival lobby, there is an airport express counter, where you can buy the pass. If the return trip to airport is still within 72 hours starting the first slash of the card, it will be OK.

Your time is tight, but it is possible to cover them all. If feeling pressed, just give up on one of them like the part of the city tour.
