Can i use viber in China?

I am visiting Shanghai and Beijing soon with family members. Can we use Viber to keep in contact whilst there? Are there other options? I have an android Phone and My partner has Iphone4

I heard Viber has been prohibited in China. For other options, I recommend Skype.
