Can a UK citizen apply for a Russian visa in China?

We are not able to apply for a tourist entry permit to visit Russia in the UK as we will be travelling for 4 or 5 months before we wish to travel from Beijing to Moscow on the TSR. Is it possible to apply for a Russian entry permit in China for UK citizens and what is the likelihood of it being granted? Thank you.
