I'm wondering about the best economical way to get Panjin from Beijing.

train, flight or bus? and how long for each? price?

Taking direct high-speed train from Main Railway Station is a good and economical choice.
The train schedules are 07:37, 09:52, 14:47, 15:51 and 17:13. It takes nearly 5 hours on the way.
The ticket fare of first class seat is CNY208 and second class seat is CNY170.
If by taking long-distance bus, the schedules from Bawangfen Bus Station are 10:30, 12:40 and 15:30. The ticket fare is CNY 167 per person. The duration is 6 to 7 hours.
In addition, no flight operates between these two places.
