Diana, you need to buy data packages so that you can use your phone to surf on the internet and receive emails. If your ipad doesn't have sim-card slot, you can enable the hot spot function on your phone. If connect your ipad with your phone, you can use it to send and receive emails. However, Gmail service and social networking softwares like Facebook and Twitter are blocked. You can't use them when you are in PRC.
