About:China Travel Tips

pollution in Lanzhou. Is the place 'liveable'? What's your experience?

Hello! I'll be living in Lanzhou from Sept till August, and I'm curious and concerned about the pollution. Thank you

Miki, the air pollution in winter is a bit serious. In fact, many cities have this problem in winter, even the capital Beiing. If you are very sensitive, you might wear masks to protect your respiratory system. When winter leaves, the air quality is much better.

thank you! I'm also curious about clothing there. are there any shops (brands) which are known in Europe, too? I mean they are so tiny, I'm afraid I won't find suitable things since I'll be staying for a year there.... The same goes for shoes :)
hope I don't sound superficial, my friends warned me to check these before setting off

Miki, there are many big department stores, such as New World, Wangfujing and Parkson. I think you might find clothes and shoes you want.
