Travel from Beijing to Xi'an to visit Terracotta Warriors

What is the best way to travel in a day to Xi'an from Beijing to visit the terracotta warriors? I would like to avoid the night train

The time would be too limited for day time high speeds only. The one way ride would take about 4 to 5 hours and if you take the time transfer to terracotta by bus into acount, you get almost no time for visiting. You would need flight for at least one trip.
