Change Visa from M to X2?

Currently I am in China and have a M type (expiring to October). Now I want to study and apply for X2 type. Is it possible to apply in mainland China or Hong Kong for a X2 with valid M type.

Hi, you can possibly change the M type to X2 type at the exit and entry administration office within mainland by providing necessary documents. If the application is turned down, you need to exit and apply for the X2 from outside.
