About:Hong Kong Long-Distance Bus

I am staying in Jordan Hong Kong and am wanting to travel to Guangzhou on 1 January 2016.

As its a public holiday which is best , train or bus?
I know I can book the train in advance but the crowd at the station will be pretty bad.
Where is the closest bus depot and does any bus service offer advance bookings?
What do you recommend ?

Train is the best. You don't have to carry luggage thru the customs. Bus requires you to go through HK & China gates.
Highly recommend you to pre-purchase tickets in case it sells out quick
