About:China Private Visit Visa

is it private affair? can i apply for the S1 visa? Thank you.

Hi, if I want to go to China with my girl friend in Shanghai for a about half year.

Vianne, as far as I am concerned, it is sort of private affairs. You can possibily apply for the S2 type rather than the S1 type. However, the officer may still give you a tourist L type because you are not married with your gf.

but S2 is short term. we really wanna stay longer, but have no plan for marriage. so do we have any other choice? or I can find a job in there during i am there. thank you for your answer, it is really helpful!

Vianne, you can extend your S2. However, duration of stay you acquire will be no longer than the one in your previous entry permit. Yes, you can find a job and then apply for Z type if you plan to stay longer. However, you can't work with S2 because it's illegal.

Thank you, now i am about to book fly ticket and then apply. if I apply for tourist type, do I have to book round trip tickets that the return one has to be before my 60 days duration? If i apply for S1 or S2, how long can I apply at maximum. Do I have to explain and approve what is my private affairs?

If you apply for tourist L type, you have to book a return tiket dated around your scheduled return date. If you apply for the S1 type, the maximum stay duration is one year. If you apply for the S2 type, the maximum duration is 180 days. However, I doubt whether you can get the S1 type or the 180-day stay duration even you explain that this si a private affair. Since you want to work in China and stay long with your gf, you had better apply for a Z type instead of the L or S type.
