Almost 20 kgs of assorted food items for a vegetarian on a 2 year student visa

Hello, I'll be moving into mainland China via Hong Kong Airport to pursue my Master's there. As a vegetarian with limited dietary options, I'll be carrying almost 20-25 kgs of food items like different pulses, spice powders (in small quantities - clove, pepper powder, turmeric, bay leaf, mustard, cumin), sugar, salt and raw pasta, a packet of home made malt drink (like horlicks), snack items like a couple of packs of lays, biscuits & rice meal and liquids like oil, vinegar and clarified butter and a few small utensils. These are solely intended for personal use as I have my own room in the dormitory where I can cook. I am willing to declare everything. Will I be allowed to carry these? I will also be carrying cosmetic products like face washes, shampoos, soaps etc. along with my music player, tab, mobile phone and laptop. Any advice on this would be great!

Gia, actually you can buy vinegar, sugar, salt, peper powder, clove, mutard, bay leaf, cumin and turmeric from the supermarkets in China. What I am afraid is that you may not be able to bring raw pasta and home made drink.

Will they not let me squeeze in even 500 gms of raw pasta? It's sealed. The reason why I'm getting small packets of these spices is because I'll be staying at a university town quite far off from the city centre and may not be able to purchase these for the first few weeks. Post that I will be purchasing all these in China. Another reason is that it's quite cheap in my country since our currency is weaker than the CNY.

What kind of raw pasta is it? Italian Pasta in a sealed bag? If so, I think you can take it. Anyway, you should go through the red channel to declare your items. In this way, you won't have any big trouble even some of your items are confiscated.
