Which provider is better for iPad data

China Mobile or China Unicom (the only one with 3G?)?

Is it possible to buy a prepaid card in the airport in Beijing?

Both of them provide 3G data. Personally, China Unicom has better signal for your IPad. However, I remember only the service office of China Mobile is availale at the airport. There you can get a prepaid SIM card.

A further question: which plan is best for say 2GB of data (for about 7 days in China - travelling in Beijing, Xian and some eastern regions) ?

Well, it depends on your needs. If you don't use it to watch videos or download apps, I think 2GB is ok. It's enough for you to surf on the internet or use social networking apps to chat with your friends.
