Our family of 4 with 2 grown up kids will spend our Christmas holiday in HK and Macau (12/21-12/25), can anyone provide a recommended hotel and itinerary with tons of good foods and sightseeing? Thank you.

You can easily find several cheaper and nice hotels in Nathan Road. And the surrounding transportation is quite convenient. Casa Hotel is a good choice for you.
The price is 370 HKD to 500 HKD per night. It's located at 487-489 Nathan Road.Yau Ma Tei KLN. Hope you like.

In addition, you can arrange your sightseeing in this way.
HK:
Day 1: Disneyland Resort, Kowloon, Causeway Bay
Day 2: Ocean Park, Tsim Sha Tsui (Avenue of Stars, Victoria Bay& A Symphony of Lights)
Day 3: Victoria Peak& Madame Tussauds, Central Area

Macau:
Day 4: Ruins of St. Paul's, Senado Square, Macau Tower, Vetetian
Day 5: A-Ma Temple, Fisherman's Wharf, Wine Museum& Grand Prix Museum
Have a good journey!

Outstanding, this is very helpful. What would be your recommendation for local transportation? Taxi, sub-way or join a local tour for sightseeing?

Thank you.

Well, actually, it's not necessary for you to join in a local tour. As HK and Macau are international metropolis with modern transportations to be easily accessed, and also English is widely used, so it is quite convenient to find the way to your destinations.
Taking subways and city-buses are better ways for you to choose. If you can buy Standard Octopus Card, you will also enjoy some discounts when you taking public transportation.
