Less than 24 hours in Shenzhen, do I need to arrange a visa before hand at all?

Hi, I'm flying into Hong Kong on Monday and will be going into Shenzhen via train for a day trip, then back to Hong Kong. I'm a British Citizen.

Shanti, if it's convenient for you, you had better apply for an L type before hand. If not, you can apply for the Shenzhen VOA when arriving in Shenzhen.
