About:Marriage Registration in China

Customary Marriage/Working in China

Hi, I am from Kenya and moving into China to work. I have a sworn affidavit of marriage because I married under customary law (in which case marriage certificates are not issued)....will the Chinese government accept this instead of a marriage certificate to allow my wife and kids join me in China?
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, I personally think the sworn affidavit can be used as the marriage certificate. You can double check this with the embassy. If you want to use if in China, you should also have it authenticated at the consular office.
