Changing s student visa to a work type

I am currently studying in China and I'm on a X type. I was offered an English teaching position at a school. The school that has offered me the position has made it seem quite complicated. Firstly I have dual citizenship, an Austrian passport as well as a South African passport. I currently travel and use only my Austrian passport and haven't used my South African one in years. The school told me that I will need to travel to my home country (Austria-I as this is the passport I'm currently using), to apply for the work permit. My problem is that I grew up and went to school in South Africa and lived most of my life there, I have no family or friends left in Austria and can't speak the language. My question is, is it possible to apply in another country other than Austria? I will travel to Europe soon, not Austria, is it possible to apply in another European country? My second question is that beause austria is not an English speaking country, do I need some kind of certification for English? I grew up in South Africa so I am a native English speaker. Thanks for your advice

Caro, your school is right. You should get back to Austria to apply for the Z type because you currently use your Austrian passport. And I am afraid that you can not apply in other countries in Europe if you don't have long-term resident permit there.

As long as you have the work permit in hands, you can apply for a Z type directly. The diploma (at least bachelor's degree) and related working experiences (two years) are required to acquire the work permit. This permit is usually acquired from local labor bureau with the help of your employer (your school).

As a European citizen I am allowed to live and work in any other European country within in the Euro zone. Would this be allowed to apply in another europeancountry?

Caro, to my knowledge, your chance of applying in other European countries is very little. If you really want to try, you can apply in other countries. But I personally suggest you contact Chinese embassy in your target country in advance to confirm before you go there.
