Should I extend my ARC before applying visa?

Hi, I am Hoang, a Vietnamese student in Seoul. I have booked ticket to Shanghai for 5 days during New Year (06/Feb-10/Feb/2016). but my validity of ARC is 31/Mar/2016. My course will finish in Jul/2017, and I have to extend my ARC every year. so, in my case, what should I do to get L type owing to less than six months' remaining validity. Could you give me advice, please?
Thank you!

If your ARC card is less than six months when you plan to apply for a L type, then I think you should extend your ARC card first. An ARC card with the validity of at least six months is a must.

Thank you so much for your reply. however, I asked the Korea immigration office, it is hard for me to extend it in January as my ARC will still have 3 months of validity left. Could I apply for double or multi-entries L visa to China around September, so my ARC still have more than 6 months' remaining validity. and if yes, what documents I should prepare to apply for double or multi-entries L type, please? I bought a non-refundable round ticket to Shanghai already.

Hoang, as you are not applying from your home country, I'm afraid the consular officer will give you a three-month single entry even you want to get a multiple-entry type. If you get the 3-month single entry, you have to go to China within three months, so I think it's still risky to apply in September. I suggest you use your current ARC and apply in November or December. You may have a chance to get it.
