About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel by cruise (stop at Shanghai less than 1 day) not go ashore. Do I still need a China visa?

My cruise will stop at Shanghai (less than 12 hrs, will leave on the same day) and I am going to stay on aboard, will not go ashore. Shanghai is the only city in China my cruise will visit. Thank your for the prompt answer.
