About:Chinese Consulate in San Francisco

Traveling outside of U.S. What document do I need other than my Green Card and US drivers license?

I am a Permanent U.S resident with a valid Green card. I was born in HK. Came to the U.S when I was 2, now 31 years of age. I would like to travel freely outside the U.S. and be able to re-enter the U.S.

Since I am not a U.S citizen I am unable to obtain a US passport.
Thanks in advance!

Mai, do you plan to visit China? If so you should apply for a tourist type. It requires your original passport, a recent passport photo, filled application form, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking apart from your drivers' license and green card.

Yes, I do and other countries as well in the future.

I don't have any kind of passport. I remember visiting PRC when I was younger so I am sure whatever passport I had then has long been expired.

All I have is a green card, us drivers license, hk birth certificate, and ssn.

Mai, it was ok to travel with your parents without your passport. However, you need to get a passport now. Not only PRC but also other countries require your passport. It's the fundamental material.
