About:China Student Visa

How long before the study starts will I be able to enter China on my X1 visa?

Hi,
I am from UK, I have just recieved my documents for 6 month X1 type. My study starts on Sept 8, however, I want to go 2 or 3 weeks earlier in order to explore and get settled. What are the regulations regarding this?

Mik, as long as you enter before the "enter before" date shown on the X1 type, there shuld no problems.

Thanks Martina, but what I was getting at was how long is this period before the study starts, I just have the documents, i havent gone to get the visa yet, so like how long is the enter before date usually before the study starts? so if my study starts in early sept, if nothing goes wrong with the application, how long before that can i enter? a month? 2 months? a year?

Mik, if you can get the X1 type, you can just enter after the X1 type is issued. After you enter China with the X1 type, you should apply for a temporary residence permit at the exit and entry administration. Your stay duration is determined by the officer according to the letter from your school. The letter states the when your course ends and the validity of the residence permit is consistent with your course. So if you enter earlier, your allowed stay duration will not be affected.
