Travelling via HK on cathay

Hi,
I am an Australian travelling from Hong Kong to Shanghai and then out to Seoul. This, I believe is fine for the 72hr free transit. However, I am travelling with Cathay Pacific and the flight to Seoul involves a transit through HK.

Is that okay or have I broken the rules?
