Is it possible to purchase a round trip tickets from the airport and use the return the next day to the airport?

No, you cannot get the round trip tickets. Atually, the bus ticket cannot be booked in advance. It is pretty easy to get on the bus and insert an exact amount of money of the fare for payment. Or just scan your Octopus Card to pay.

Thank you, Iris.  That's too bad.  Do you also know how early is the bus start back to the airport from Kowloon, in front of the Prudential hotel?  I need to be at the airport by 8 AM.

The operating hours of bus no.A21 are 05:30 to 23:00 with the interval of 10 to 20 minutes. The wholeway takes around 80 mins. So you are suggested to start early and catch the first schedule in order to catch your flight.
