Is there a bus from Xi'an to Lanzhou and Urumqi. How long is the ride?

In the Provincial Bus Station near the railway station, you can take the direct bus to Lanzhou. There are three buses available at 10:00, 11:00 and 14:00. The fare is CNY170 – 202. The travel time is about 6 – 7 hours.

I’m afraid there is no bus to Uqumqi. You can fly there in around 3 hours. Or take a direct Z train: There are two Z trains available at 11:09 and 07:38. The travel time is about 25 hours, and the fare is CNY268.5 – 273.5 for the hard seat, CNY 477.5 – 496.5 for the hard sleeper and CNY735.5-767.5 for the soft sleeper.
