Is it ok to carry kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) in capsule form?

I will be traveling to Philippines soon with a stop in Beijing, and will be carrying an herb called kratom in capsule form in my carry on bag (approx. 150 mg). How may I contact the customs department to inquire about the legality of this herb in China?

Usually, if it is for self use and the volume is acceptable, you are allowed to take in by showing the prescriptions. Anyway, here is the contact of the customs at PEK: 86010-12360 or 86-010-85734500
Try to dial and consult. Good luck~

Hi Kina, Thank you for your reply.

Kratom is not controlled here in the U.S., and so it is not prescribed by a physician at all. As I stated, I will probably be taking around 150mg of the herb, and will be taking it myself. Can you provide me with any references that suggest it's okay to bring through China? I could not find anything at all. I even tried emailing the Chinese Department of Drug & Cosmetics Supervision but I did not receive a response. I find it quite strange that I cannot find a definitive answer.

Thank you again.

Brent, i tried to search on the internet. According to some people, they successfully brought kratom into Beijing. According to them, it isn't forbidden. They just put Kratom in their carry-on luggage.
