What sort of hostess gift should I take?

I will be visiting China and have been invited to dinner at the home of a Chinese family.

Margaret, if you have dinner with a Chinese family, I think a bottle of wine from USA is ok. If she has some kids, you might buy some gifts. Chocolate or toys are fine.
