Aancha, if the information on both passports is exactly the same, then you can take both passports to enter. If the information has been altered, you have to apply for a new entry permit.

Leaving the Passport number, Everything else is the same! However, I called up the Chinese Embassy regarding the same query and they said it will not be valid. Are you sure?

Anchal, different consulates give different answers. I advise you to contact the immigration officer of the city through which you plan to enter China. If it says your entry permit is invalid, then you have to apply for a new one.
