About:Chinese Greetings

Business greeting - sir/madam

Is it acceptable to address a business letter to dear sir or madam? And how would I write this in Chinese please? Many thanks.

Debbie, it's ok to write Dear Sir/Madam if you don't have no idea about the one who receives your email or letter. If you know about your business partner, then you need to write Dear Mr. Mrs. Miss XXX instead.

If you don't plan to write the whole email or letter in Chinese, then I would not recommend you to write the starting address in Chinese. To me, it doesn't look professional.

Thank you for that Danny, very kind. I just wanted to show some effort as my German contacts always appreciate the German salutation. They find it quite polite, and in India I always greet with Namaste, and remember my shukria's. Any tips on showing respect and expectations in regard to polite behaviour is always gratefully received.
