Hi, Mercy! The Malaysian Visa is enough. The online appoinment is not mandatory, but you can make it on the website of the CVASC to save your time at the consular office. To apply for the S type, bank statement and hoel reservations are not required. You should submit the photocopy of the passport and Chinese residence permit of the one who you are going to be dependent upon and the notarized relationship certificate.

Mercy, to apply for the S1 type, marriage certificate, birth certificate or any other kinship certificate is required. You need to have the certificate authenticated by Chinese embassy and then notarize it at local notary office when you come. Then you can use it to change your S1 to a resident permit.
