About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Tourist to Employment Visa

I am looking at moving to Shanghai for work, where my British partner lives and has set up a business. I am not getting anywhere with job applications as I don't have an entry permit in place. Am I able to enter on a tourist type for 3 months and job search while I am there. Would employers be more willing to help with an employment type If I am able in the country? If not what is the best approach to take in getting a job in Shanghai as a Brit with no entry permit!
Thanks

Stephanie, you can apply for a L type first and try to seek a job in Shanghai. After you find an employer, then you can apply for the Z type. However, I am afraid that you will be required to apply for the Z type outside of mainland China. You might go to apply in HK via an agency or go back to UK to apply for the Z type.
