About:Four Scenic Regions of Mount Emei

Reasonable Emeishan itinerary for a short stay

I'm planning a trip for June on a fairly tight schedule - arriving to Emeishan around noon and need to be back in Chengdu by 6pm the following day. I'm trying to determine if this itinerary is feasible for 2 people in average physical shape.

I had 2 options - looking for confirmation that they're doable and have enough buffer time that I won't have to be checking my watch constantly:

Itinerary 1 (Guideline)

1:30pm Arrive to mountain foot, buy ticket, visit Baoguo village and temple area

3pm Catch bus to Leidonping, climb to Golden Summit

5:30am wakeup for sunrise, leave summit by 6:30am via cable car and bus to Wannian Station

9:30am arrive Wannian Station, climb to Wannian Temple, Qinqyin Pavilion (am I correct that from here it is a 1 hour detour to go see the Joking Monkey Zone and return to Qingyin Pavilion?)

1:30pm catch bus from Wuxiangang Bus Station to Baoguo (assuming 1 hour detour for the monkeys), catch 2pm bus to Chengdu

Itinerary 2 (Guideline)

1:30pm Arrive to mountain foot, buy ticket, catch bus to Wannian Station

2:30pm-8pm climb to Elephant Bathing Pool via Wannian Temple

4am climb from Elephant Bathing Pool to Jieyin Hall

7am cable car to Golden Summit; 30 mins at summit; cable car down (is this worth it?? or too late?)

9:30am bus to Wuxiangang Bus Station

11:30am walk to Baoguo Temple via Qinying Pavilion

3:30pm exit park, take taxi to train station for 4:41pm train to Chengdu

Hope someone can help me with at least one of these!!! Thank you!

Both itineraries are OK.

But I prefer Itinerary 1; Itinerary 2 has too many walkings and it will be rather tired. Also, according to the itinerary, you will return to mountain foot at 13:30; this will leave some time for unexpectings so even if you get there late you can change to the train.

Yes, it is about 1-1.5 hours detour from Qingyin Pavilion to Joking Monkey Zone and back to Qingyin Pavilion.

BTW, you may see monkeys in many other places on the mountain, like Leidongping and Elephant Bathing Pool. When see them, close your bags and hide all your food, cellphones, etc. They are somehow "robbers".
Have fun~
