Overseas Hong Kong citizen travelling to China

Hi,
I am a HK citizen holder living in Canada. Will I be able to use my "return home" card to access china directly from another country (ie Loas)? Or I will need a visa? If so, is it any way possible for me to apply abroad as I am currently travelling and will not be retuned to home first before stopping over China. Thanks.
