best connection from shanghai to yangzhou (jiangsu province)

Hi, we would like to find the best train connection from  to Yangzhou (Jiangsu Province), leaving SH 18th July 2015.On travelchinaguide.com I get T7768 leaving 12:31 arriving in Yangzhou 18:27.This is obviously a slow train - Is it possible to combine it with a highspeed connection to Nanjing ?Alternatively - Could there be a faster bus connection ?Thanks for your response.Regards,Christian (Denmark)

It is fine to take a high-speed train to Nanjing for a transfer and it takes 1.5-2 hours. After that, you can either take a train or bus to Yangzhou. Except this way, you can also take a direct long-distance bus to Yangzhou. At the General Long-distance Bus Station, buses for this route are scheduled from 07:00 to 17:30 with the interval of 30 to 40 mins. It takes 3.5 to 4 hours on the way. The ticket fare is CNY 93 per person.
