About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Working permit and Residence permit expires before my contract

My working permit is going to expire in middle of June, my residence permit at the end of June and my working contract expires at the beginning of July. During the middle of June I'm in Europe, so the working permit is going to expire while I'm there and once I go back. I only have three actual working days to ask for an extension.

Can I come back to China if the Working permit has expired but Residence Permit is still valid? Can I get a one-month entry permit without leaving to finish my contract and get the severance from my employer?

John, you can enter if your resident is still valid. If you still plan to work for your employer, you should go back and leave at least 15 working days for extending your work permit and resident permit. However, I am afraid that you can't do the extension if your employer doesn't provide you another contract.

Yes, it's likely that you will get a L type. But it's illegal to work with L type.
