Can I apply directly for a visa at the Chinese embassy?

I'm a Vietnamese who is living in Japan as business trip, my entry permit will be expired in December 2015 (but it will be extended to December 2016). I want to travel to Shanghai alone in 4 days in September 2015.

Hi, according to the information on the website of the embassy, you can go there directly to do the application. However, someone said that the consular office told him to do it through agencies and it has been the case for many years. Therefore, I suggest you contact the consular office to confirm it again.
