About:China Train

is it possible to buy hard sleeper tickets 3-4 days in advance from the station.

I want to buy tickets xian to pingyao, pingyao to datong, datong to beijing,chengdu to xian. The online sites seem to be booked up or have limited seats 4-6 weeks ahead

You can have a try to buy them on spot. But if they are already limited, there is also a possibility that they sold out on spot. If possible, you'd better buy them as early as possible.
