About:Marriage Registration in China

Already married in another country with my Chinese partner. We want to have it registered in china.

Me and my Chinese partner got married 3years ago. We have our marriage certificate translated and stamped in the Chinese embassy. What other docs do we need? and can we do it in any city or only the place her Hukou is issued?

Tim, seriously I don't know if you can register your marriage again. You know, single certificate is required except for your passport, her Chinese ID and her Hukou. Since you are married, you can not get the single certificate.

Yes, you should register your marriage in the city where your wife's Hukou is issued.

Actually it's not problem for me. We have our Belgian marriage certificate which I got my residence permit with in China. But as far as I know, based on the current rules, the marriage status of a Chinese citizen has to be uploaded after the marriage in her hukou. well, we have the certificate. Shouldn't they just use that one then? (As I said it's also translated in Chinese and legalized by the Chinese embassy).
