About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

Applying for China visa to fly home on a Malaysian Tourist type

Hi, I am in Malaysia on a tourist type but my flight home to the UK is from Shanghai. I wanted to spend a few days in Shanghai max 2 days before taking my flight. Will i be able to apply for a single entry one from Kuala Lumpur? Thank you

Jess, you can make use of 72 hours free transit to avoid applying for entry permit. You just need to book the air ticket from SH to UK in advance. The interval between your arrival time in Pudong/Hongqiao airport and depature time for UK should be within 72 hours.

Thanks for your reply Hank. But i wanted to see a friend in Shanghai. Can you get an entry permit from a country that is not your permanent residence?

Jess, you can try to apply from the CVASC branches there. However, there is no guarantee that you can apply successfully. Usually, the applicants are required to provide their legal stay proof if they apply in third county.
