About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

China X2 Visa outside of USA (USA citizen)

I am a USA citizen but currently studying in Hong Kong as an exchange student. I got a job at a university in China for the summer. I was wondering if I could get the X2 type in Hong Kong, instead of mailing it back to the consulate in the USA.

Also, I have a multiple entry tourist entry permit for China. It expires May 29 of this year, but has 90 day stay duration. Does that mean I could enter China on May 28, and then stay in China until July or August even though it expired May 29?

Thanks

Hello Rick!
1. Since you will work in mainland, I think you have to get a Z type rather than the X2 type. You are not allowed to work with the X2 type.
2. You can try to apply for the Z type at Hong Kong. However, you should know that you cannot just mail your passport to the US to apply for the Z type.
3. The latest time for you to enter is May 29. Then you can stay for 90 days after the entry.
