About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Changing universities but studying under same visa

Hi! I came to China to study chinese in September of last year (2014) and i was issued a one year residence permit. I have moved from the city where I was in (Jiangmen) , and will join the university in my new city (Suzhou).

For my new university in order to renew the permit once the year is over, they are asking for a certificate from my previous university, stating that i no longer study there and have transfered to Suzhou university. I called the Jiangmen uni, but they said the wouldn't give me the certificate because my permit was issued to study in Jiangmen.

Taking a look at my residence permit, it doesn't really say that I'm only allowed to study in Jiangmen, and it's valid until September 2015.
Do you think this will be a problem when its time to renew my permit?

If you are moving to Suzhou, I would guess it is SUDA or XJTLU. Anyways get your transcripts from the former university and write a letter that u wish to move your Education to Suzhou. By August 2015 have Suzhou University process you a new Study VISA.

Am sure your former school is just not informed and are angry to see you go.

Thanks! I was just afraid that they would cancel my residence permit, but I've read in so many sites that doing so is a big hassle, and my previous Uni was not very proactive so I doubt they will cancel it. I will study in Suzhou university
