Can I bring Candy items into China as a gift - Can it be wrapped, or does it need to be open?

will customes allow me to bring a gift of history from my USA home to my family I'm visiting, Will I be allowed thru customs with Candy wrapped as a gift? Should I keep it open so they can see inside the package? or will they take it away from me?

Kathy, candies are ok and you can wrap it well as a gift. However, it still possible that the security officers might ask you to open it to confirm what it is inside.
