HI I am a german citizen arriving in PEK on May 21, my next flight is on May 23 to HKG, ,return flight HKG - PEK and back to Frankfurt

Your route is ok. However, you should double-check that your flights won't stop over any other Chinese cities. Otherwise, you can not apply for 72 hours free transit.
